East side of Seneca Lake
Finger Lakes Distilling are producers and purveyors of McKenzie Whiskey. They are also a small operation making a handcrafted product that uses locally grown fruits and grains to make high-quality, handcrafted spirits. They proudly do their part in minimizing waste, such as spent grains from fermentation used by local farmers as animal feed.
Their flavored vodkas and liqueurs are made in the traditional manner, by soaking real fruits in the spirit. No added extracts or synthetic flavoring is used to speed up the process. Their whiskies rest in oak barrels for as long as they need to until they mature into a rich aged spirit.
From their dog-friendly tasting room, you can see most of their production area, including both of their copper stills. The distillery store is located inside the tasting room. Here you can find their full line of spirits, as well as branded Finger Lakes Distilling merchandise, local artisan food products, and a variety of cocktail-related items. Tours, classes, and workshops are available as well.
Workshops/ Classes: The OriGINal Gin workshop is currently available. This workshop allows you to design and distill your very own Gin from start to finish. You will have a hand in every step of the process, from botanical selection all the way down to applying the labels to the bottles yourself. Additionally, you will be provided a complete tour and behind-the-scenes look at the Finger Lakes Distilling facility.
Make sure to check their website as other workshops and classes are always being added.
Distillery Tours: Currently two Saturday tours at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm are available. You will be escorted by a knowledgeable tour guide through the production area, barrelhouse, and bottling operation. The tour includes a thorough explanation of the process from the moment we the grains and fruit are received, to milling, mashing, fermentation, distillation, barreling, and bottling. The tour concludes with a private tasting for the group.
